Green Meadows Petting Farm
Five miles South on Poinciana Boulevard off 192 lies one of the most charming petting zoo attractions that you will ever see. Yes, you will be able to milk a cow. You will go on a tractor-powered hayride. A train ride circles around the farm. Along the way you -- and especially young children -- will have a great time getting up close and personal with dozens of farm animals. Tours run nearly two hours long though you are always welcome to drop off and enjoy the playground, picnic tables and more at your leisure. It's a continuous tour so you simply join in and fall out as you see fit. More importantly is that while you are outdoors it is one of the shadiest attractions you will find as tall trees line the farm and you can rent red wagons to tow around the youngest of visitors. On the way out you may very well be given a keepsake souvenir (we all got Green Meadows Petting Farm plastic cups when we went).
TIP -- Admission is $17, but it's worth it. Go on a Saturday, when the theme parks would all be too crowded. Florida residents get $2 off. If you pick up the Orlando Entertainment Coupon Book it includes a Buy One, Get One Free coupon that can be used for up to six guests. So if you have a party of six you will save $51 (or about twice as much as the book costs -- with so many other great Orlando offers for half-price dining and attractions).
